Part one of my organizing project

I started with my dresser.  I had been placing everything on top of it, even clothes.  I realized I had many things there that I didn't use.  Some goofy glasses, broken earrings, and funky necklaces I never wore anymore.  I decided to start with my jewelry first, then sort through  my make-up and hair accessories, moving everything I want to keep, but don't use, down to the garage shelf.  Here's what I ended up with.

I used a drawer organizer (top left) for my make-up.  I had been collecting little jars, bottles and mini bowls/containers.  I like to use these for my jewelry.  I placed the hair products I use most often all together, along with my must-have bobby-pins (in seashell box). My perfume bottles are displayed on a beautiful glass tray.

I will enjoy this victory for a little while, then on to the clothing.

Project Reorganize begins....3,2,1....now!

I am one of those lucky people who has a decent amount of storage space in my home.  I have a guest room, that I use as my dressing room/make-up and clothing storage closet.  However, despite having the whole room for that purpose, I still struggle to make it function well.  Maybe it's the small closet, broken drawer, or the fact that I live a busy (thus disorganized) life. I realized that I'm not getting good use out of the space, nor am I connecting with my creative fashion sense as often as I'd like to. There's a dresser with 5 functional drawers,  a small closet with a rack, and 2 shoe racks.  My first instinct is to get rid of most of it, but that sort of defeats the purpose of having accumulated my wardrobe.

How do you organize your clothes so that you have access to it all, but are not overwhelmed?

I'm going to work on it for the next couple of days, and will return with the results.  Wish me luck.

Photography Trial

My first attempts at using my new camera (Nikon D3100).  First, I took pictures of the most photographed dog in the world and plants in my house.  Then I took a short drive in my neighborhood to get some scenery shots.

My apple trees, sort of.

Welcome me

During my winter break, I've had time to rediscover my artistic side, organize my closets and browse a few blogs.  I've been inspired to share my discoveries and ideas in a blog that is especially designed for women over 30.  Enjoy and please feel free to leave comments along the way.
